Friedberg dismisses six-foot social distancing rules as ineffective for indoor spaces where viral particles accumulate over time.
“Like if you're six foot away from someone in a room, people are coughing and that room gets filled with those particles over a one hour period.”
Friedberg argues that the U.S. has politicized public health issues like masks in ways that undermine good solutions.
“But things of public health, when they get sort of distorted and viewed through a political lens or just idiotic, we view masks as a political statement.”

Friedberg says hospitals never became overwhelmed yet lockdowns continue, and those wanting to end lockdowns refuse to take other precautions.
“Well, nowhere in the country did the hospitals get overwhelmed and we're still in these lockdowns. And so, you know, I think that it's long overdue for it to end.”
Friedberg advocates ending lockdowns while wearing masks, a position he says neither political side supports.
“where I come out on this thing is that I think we should end lockdowns but wear masks, and it's very hard to find anybody, you know, in the political spectrum who agrees with that because, you know, one side wants to keep lockdowns going indefinitely and the other doesn't want us to wear masks.”
Friedberg states people under 60 without preexisting conditions face 50 times lower risk from COVID-19.
“the data seems to suggest that people 60 who are healthy don't have sort of preexisting conditions are 50 times less likely to develop or there's a 50X greater chance for those 60 in terms of having a really bad outcome. And so for people 60 who don't have these preexisting conditions, it's just not,”
Friedberg argues widespread mask use alone is sufficient to stop exponential viral spread, citing Asian countries and Czechoslovakia.
“We've seen in the Asian countries or Czechoslovakia, other places, they've been able to get the so called R naught,”
Friedberg reports 40-60% of people have pre-existing T-cell immunity to COVID-19 from prior coronavirus exposure.
