Vance says communities were told for forty years that domestic manufacturing location doesn't matter.
“For forty years, places like Brewer have been told that it doesn't matter. That it doesn't matter if we make things here in Maine or 5,000 miles away with foreign workers.”
Vance says factory workers were left powerless and destitute by distant politicians enriching a few.
“Men and women who built their lives around a factory or around the community that existed and was supported by that factory, they were left powerless, and they were left destitute when decisions by far off politicians made this community poor so that a few people could earn a few quick bucks.”
Vance says demand for metal cutting and machine tools reached 40-year high under Trump.
