Palihapitiya proposes Congress require critical economic infrastructure to report anonymized data into blockchains for accurate economic measurement.
“I think we need to figure out a way, and this is where congress should get their act together, and pass an incentive or a requirement for certain parts of the critical economic infrastructure of America to report their data in an anonymized way into a broad set of blockchains.”
Palihapitiya argues addressing housing, healthcare, and student debt would transform domestic policy and impact 50 to 75 million households.
“So I think if we get these three issues addressed, something in housing, something in health care, and something on the student loan side, it is a transformational domestic policy agenda that puts affordability front and center that will impact 50 to 75,000,000 American households.”
Palihapitiya explains H-1B abuse where large companies apply for 300,000 visas at once, overwhelming smaller applicants.
“What he described is that when the application window opens for what is a very small number of h one b's, a company that has, you know, call it 300,000 employees abroad will apply on behalf of all 300,000 because they're all roughly the same kind of employee. Whoever gets it gets to come over.”
Palihapitiya identifies $45,000 to $63,000 income range as stagnation zone where benefits create poverty trap.
“There is a very specific part of, though, what he said, which I think we should focus on, which is there is an area between $45,000 a year and $63,000 a year, which actually looks like a bit of a stagnation zone.”
Palihapitiya proposes a $100-200 billion tax equity vehicle for hyperscalers to subsidize homeowner solar and storage.
“The next major thing is when you actually create a 100 or $200,000,000,000 tax equity vehicle, and you have them completely subsidize and pay for the electricity costs of homeowners.”
Palihapitiya calls for a $300-500 billion tax equity fund to eliminate electricity costs for 50-100 million households.
“I think the president should try to create a $3.04, $500,000,000,000 tax equity fund and help eliminate the electricity costs of 50 to a 100,000,000 American households.”
Palihapitiya says Maine banned all data center buildings, showing compute constraints driving unusual market moves.
“So I think the reason why Allbirds went crazy is a very, very small canary in a very important coal mine, which is we are absolutely compute constrained.”
Palihapitiya identifies Canada, UK, and Australia as having moved far toward socialism with disastrous outcomes before the United States.
“I was on Megyn Kelly yesterday, and I had this theory that I've been kind of working through. And I'll just share it with you guys because I'd love your reaction.”
Palihapitiya says cannabis needs tight toxicity controls and labeling, calling it gross and turning users into zombies
“@JGriesler I’m not fighting cannabis reform in any way shape or form. My view is that cannabis needs tight toxicity controls and labeling. It is turning an entire generation of users into zombies. I find it gross - smells awful and regular users become rejects.”

Palihapitiya questions if Wisconsin polls were wrong or media tried pushing toward socialism and failed
“Were the polls actually completely off or did a bunch of mainstream media decide to lie and try to push Wisconsin towards socialism? Seems like it failed regardless. https://t.co/ub9hmPXdNi”
