Patel argues Western power grid supply chains have not expanded in decades unlike China, India, and Indonesia.
“The Japanese power grid has been like this. The Korean power grid has been like Only China and India and Indonesia, their power grids have been growing really fast.”
Patel says ordering a substation today takes three years to build due to stagnant grid infrastructure.
“if you were to order a substation today, would take three years to be built. And so it just takes so long because The US power grid has been like this for decades.”
Patel says in some Midwest regions, grid transmission costs exceed power generation costs, constraining data center buildouts.
“It's like, what the flip? Right? Like, it's like so, like, the grid needs huge investments.”
