Gerstner lobbied Speaker Johnson and Chairman Smith directly on Capitol Hill to include Trump Accounts in the reconciliation bill.
“I went and saw Speaker Johnson and Chairman Smith on Capitol Hill and said, ‘Guys, we got to get [Trump Accounts] in [the reconciliation bill].’”
Gerstner says someone accomplished a policy goal without lobbyists and had a president who immediately understood the concept.
“He did this himself. He didn’t have lobbyists. He didn’t hire people … And he happened to have a president who got the concept immediately and understood it.”
