Gurley realized by his second year as an engineer that repeating similar projects wasn't his long-term path.
“I was an engineer. I had an engineering degree in undergrad and you know, in my second year as an engineer, you know, we were starting the third project I had worked on and it looked like the second and it looked like the first”
Gurley shares he studied stocks at night as an engineer before switching to Wall Street career.
“And I didn't say to myself, Oh, maybe that's a sign, but it was, right?”
Gurley says he started as computer engineer but grew bored when third project looked like the second and first.
“It was my fascination but after I got in the role for a couple years the third project looked like the second looked like the first and I started to get bored”
