Friedberg was rejected by all VCs he approached, including Mike Moritz and John Doerr from Google's board.
“And Danny's like, I'll introduce you to all the VCs in the Valley. I had met two of them from Google's board meetings, Mike Moritz and John Doors.”
Friedberg raised exactly $2.2 million from friends and network connections to start WeatherBill after VCs rejected him.
“I raised, like, $2,200,000 from friends and, like, networking to other people that Danny had introduced me and that my friends introduced me to.”
Friedberg says strong storytellers can infinitely fundraise and sell products that don't exist yet.
“The individuals who possess a strong storytelling trait, an ability to paint a picture that elicits emotional context in the listener in a way that drives them to act is a person that can infinitely fundraise, that can attract and recruit the best employees, that can sell customers on a product that doesn't even exist yet.”
