Friedberg claims anti-GMO sentiment emerged after Russia Today launched in US in 2010, not during GMOs' first fourteen years.
“And you can see that prior to Russia Today existing in The US, there was no anti GMO sentiment. GMOs were around since 1996.”
Friedberg explains transgenic GMO technology inserts foreign genes to produce non-native proteins in plants.
“And in the popular poll ons, it's called GMO. That system allowed us to introduce proteins into plants that aren't native to that plant.”
Friedberg uses non-GMO oatmeal as example of meaningless premium labeling since no GMO oats exist.
“There's a product that there's literally no GMO version of an input, of oats. There's no GMO oats. So an oatmeal company puts out a box and they say, Here's our oatmeal.”
