“It's very hard to kind of replace China as a source of production for a lot of what we consume in this country. That's the reality.”

“Factories in China are purpose built. So they're built to make a thing, and then they gotta get retooled if you wanna make another thing.”
Friedberg proposes 3D printing, biomanufacturing, and automation could enable US to decouple from Chinese production through reinvented manufacturing methods.
“And so through automation, three d printing, through biomanufacturing, you can kind of change the methods of doing this stuff.”
Friedberg claims shipping goods from the moon to Earth costs zero due to low gravity.
“And, ultimately, the cost to ship those goods back to the Earth is zero. And the reason is that on the moon, you can take advantage of the low gravity.”
Friedberg says continuous moon mining and manufacturing would cost a fraction of Earth operations.
“So we could run continuous mining, continuous manufacturing processes on the moon at a fraction of the cost of what it would take to do it here on Earth.”
“So China's got this massive amount of of energy that they can use to power electrified things. They've got 20 times the manufacturing square footage of The US, and much of it is automated.”
