Friedberg says researchers overcame the limiting factor of mitochondria access and successfully healed damaged cartilage.
“So this mechanism that they developed where they could take stem cells, make copies of the stem cells, make lots of mitochondria, and then they isolate that mitochondria and use it as a therapeutic tool.”
Friedberg explains that putting mitochondria into the body to heal tissue has been a long-sought research goal.
“And the idea that we could put mitochondria into our body or into tissue in our body to heal it or repair it has been something that folks have been trying to do”
